Out of the four acres on the farm, not even a quarter of it was producing strawberries. They were picked quickly and now leave Danny to prepare for the next crop. "Everything is just starting, we're actually just starting to dig potatoes now," he said. "It doesn't look like a super abundant crop either, it's just too dry." Danny is most optimistic about the coach outlet locations quicksilver sweet corn. "The sweet corn right now looks fantastic," he said. "It's earring out and tasseling out already." With one more good rainfall the corn could be ready late July, however, he's quite positive it will be ready for August long weekend. The slow season has been a common trend among farmers in eastern Manitoba. The weather and winter prior are all elements of the slow production. "As far as I know coach outlet locations benign all the strawberries in this area and even around Steinbach is pretty much the same result," About and hour and a half to the west, the story is completely different. According to Murray Boonstra of Boonstra Farms in Stonewall, it's been a record setting season. "The strawberries are just about done now and the raspberries are just booming," Murray said. Murray believes that the raspberry season will last for about two more weeks and there's plenty to be picked. He's never seen the berries grow like this. "We probably got an average crop of strawberries and a bumper crop of raspberries and more people than we can almost handle. "The coach outlet dallas tx entire parking lot was full and the highway with both sides parked and in the ditch. It was just insane," he said. "We've had a couple of really good years for raspberries but nothing like this," he said. "You can just sit in one spot and pick a pail full without moving." Murray didn't know why the crop in Stonewall was doing so well compared to other areas of Manitoba. "I really can't put my finger on it, why it's so excellent." It could have to do with the winter weather they had prior, the soil they have or the weather conditions. "Some of my friends had winter kill, for one thing, but we had good snow cover this year right off the bat and that's pretty key," he said. "My other friend had 20 acres, she got flooded out last year and they just packed it in," Murray said. "They just flooded completely and were wiped out and everything.
They didn't want to start over again." After berry season is finished in about two weeks, they start day tours for day cares in August. They'll also prepare to get the corn maze ready for this fall.
