The new West Midlands Funding Commission will look for ways to provide long term funding for the region to build homes, reclaim polluted brownfield land and improve the transport network. Mr Street believes the region can't simply rely on grants from Government. The coach outlet atlanta dermatology Treasury is providing the West Midlands with million a year over 30 years as part of a devolution deal, and the mayor is confident of securing a second devolution deal with more cash from central government. "The Government isn't going to keep turning around and keep giving the West Midlands, or indeed anyone else, further devolution deals in exactly the same way. "This is about looking at what other sources of funding can we find." Commission members include Louise Bennett, Chief Executive of Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce; Stephen Hughes, former chief executive Birmingham City Council; Tony Travers, an academic at the LSE who led a similar Commission for the Mayor of London; Isabel Dedring, of leading engineering consultants Arup, and Julia Goldsworthy, a former Treasury special adviser who now works at professional services firm PwC. "We have plenty more investment proposals, whether it is about brownfield remediation or further transport investment, and this is about giving us the firepower to make these things happen. "London has begun to think about these things, but it hasn't really been thought about for the regions before." There is no firm figure for how much the Commission's proposals will raise, but Mr Street said: "This is not about small increments.
