Beauchamp of Rencontre West Sam's father was a ship's captain and was lost at sea at a young age.
Sam had the sea in his veins and fishing was an exciting way to make a living. On that foggy May morning 1901 when the captain was below deck, the teenager, with heart pounding with fear of being caught by the harsh cruel captain, boarded the dory, pushed off and drifted away in the dense fog. Bravely he rowed upon the ocean into the unknown.
