The small dairy company is enjoying the success of a chocolate milk craze it started by combining one of New Zealand's most loved brands, Whittaker's Chocolate, with its own organic milk. But even before Kiwis coach outlet handbags handles started queuing at their supermarkets for the new drink, the artisan producer had already set its sights on giving dairy aisles a makeover. And not just in New Zealand. The Creamery has just started exporting products to Australia, and there's talk of coach outlet stores northern california a public float down the track. The journey from local producer to exporter and maybe even to publicly traded company started with butter, or one man's frustration with putting overseas produced coach outlet aurora il factory stores premium butters into his shopping basket. Until Lewis Road Creamery entered the market in 2012, New Zealand for all its rolling greens and cattle herds did not have its own quality butter brand. Next came YouTube, where Cullinane looked up 'how to make butter' and began making his own. Many batches later, the supermarkets started placing orders, and the Creamery steadily built a reputation as a producer of quality products. Having mastered butter, they then decided to turn their attention to milk. 'Not to be unkind to standard milk, but it's pretty ordinary,' Cullinane said. 'It's almost a by product on an industry that's really focused on milk powder.' After organic milk came flavoured milk, with chocolate the first cab off the rank. The rest, Cullinane says, is history. 'My thing is to work my way down the dairy aisle,' he said.
'I think we've got to look at whether we could repeat what we're doing in New Zealand in Australia.' The former chief operating officer of Saatchi Saatchi worldwide says that like New Zealand, Aussies lack locally made premium dairy products in their supermarkets. Sydney based cultured butter maker Pepe Saya, who taught Lewis Road how to make its artisan butter, is not a mainstream product, which leaves room for other players.
