Concerned workers at the Knowsley based International Automotive Components (IAC) plant contacted the ECHO saying they felt like they'd been "stabbed in the back" as 130 of them are about to lose their jobs. They say over the last six years they've supplied JLR with interior components for their cars by "working overtime and on weekends to meet the demand for IAC" but suddenly that has all changed with a cheaper workforce in IAC's Elmdon plant now the choice to carry out the same work. IAC bosses have outlined their attempts to "reach an agreement to save the jobs in Halewood" which didn't work out but say they consider the outcome a "positive development" because it means they will retain the business with JLR. "For more than six years we have worked our shifts, overtime and on weekends in order to meet the demand.
